Since the dawn of written history, the Jagh Mountains have divided the continent of Thera. A mountain range so vast and wide, nobody had been known to traverse across. For millennia, civilizations rose and fell on either side, each wondering what might exist past those snowy peaks. Adventurers froze climbing the impossible heights. Miners ran into impenetrable bedrock. Sailors never returned from voyages in search of the mountains’ end. For most, the Jaghs were simply the edge of the world, a line on a map drawn by the gods themselves. Legends promised lands long forgotten, but legends were hardly taken as truth. That was until, a man from the North made his Crossing in a flying ship, forever altering all of Thera.”

The Hues of Unity is a large scale fantasy epic series spanning across the continent of Thera - a land where magic and power flow through the air for anyone to wield. It is also a land that, as mentioned in the quote above, is divided by an enormous mountain range. This concept has long lived in my mind, dating all the way back to my middle school days. I was fascinated by the thought of two cultures developing at different rates on either side of an impassible mountain range. One that relied on magic, and the other transforming that same power into technology, until the traditional usage of magic became foreign. Eventually, one of these lands would discover how to cross the divide and discover the other half, creating a cultural merger. While the story of this land has shifted and developed over the years, this fundamental concept has carried through to the final version.

Enjoy!
